Danny - Founder, lead consultant

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Danny grew up fishing, camping, hiking, climbing and playing in the mountains. He began suffering from chronic stomach pains in his early 20's. Despite several extended hospitalizations, doctors were unable to deliver a correct diagnosis and began treating him with increasingly heavy doses of opiate pain medications. Further complications included thoracic outlet syndrome and a non-cancerous brain tumor, both of which required surgeries to fix and ever-growing doses of medications. By 2009, he was on 19 different prescription medications, disengaged with life, becoming overweight and falling deeper into depression.  Upon the urging of his father, he got his first medical cannabis card in December of that year.  Shortly after beginning this plant-based treatment, Danny's life began to change rapidly. Growing cannabis became the reason for him to get out of bed and gave him the drive to improve his health and life.  By mid 2010 he had lost 70 pounds and weaned himself off of pain medications completely.  He credits using and growing cannabis with saving his life and seeks to give back as much as he can to this amazing plant.

Danny first started in the licensed industry in Colorado in 2010 working in both a dispensary and a cultivation facility. In 2011 he worked for a local grow shop which gave him in-depth experience with equipment, nutrients, and various grow techniques as well as invaluable connections in this facete of the industry.

In 2012 Danny decided it was time to focus on opening a licensed facility himself and after two years of ground work, AlpinStash was opened in 2014. AlpinStash focused on growing and breeding craft cannabis with an “everything by hand” motto.

In 2019 Danny began to focus on consulting and in the cannabis space which turned into the current passion it is today.

During a consulting gig in 2021, Danny was asked to come on as a full time Director of Cultivation for SNDL Inc. a Canadian based company. Danny and his family moved to Canada in Aug of 2021 to take on this challenge.

During his tenure in this position, Danny was responsible for the cultivation of over 35,000,000 grams of cannabis for both the Canadian and international market. He ran a team of over 60 employees at the largest indoor cultivation facility in Canada. He was able to boost yields from an average of 45g/sqft to over 80g/sqft. with individual harvests hitting over 100g/sqft. He was also able to reliably increase the average potency across all cultivars by over 30%. The robust IPM program Danny designed greatly reduced or eliminated all incidence of pest and disease. This roll also required a major focus on reducing cultivation costs, and increasing efficiencies while maintaining quality, potency, yield and integrity.

Commercial cultivation is both an art an a science and the experience that Danny has gained during his time in the industry puts him in a unique position to draw upon both, and deliver results to our clients which work within the current facility and budget. Every situation and client is unique, as there is no such thing as a magic bullet or a one-size-fit-all solution.

Since moving back to Colorado, Danny has focused on his passions in the cannabis space, consulting, and breeding.

Murr

Murr was born and raised in Colorado. She's an avid athlete, and even from a young age, her pioneering spirit found a home in a traditionally male dominated sport: hockey. This passion drove her through high school, and despite a major injury, brought her to Minneapolis to play on a college team. A cornucopia of pain killers and muscle relaxers didn't solve her underlying problem, and after a year she hung up her skates for what she thought would be forever.

When a friend suggested she try cannabis, she was able to get off the pain killers and muscle relaxers, thus returning to recreational hockey.   Many years later she returned to Colorado and met her husband Danny.
